A privacy set locks from the inside, for bathrooms and bedrooms. A dummy handle does not turn at all and is fixed to one face, for a closet door or the inactive leaf of a double door. The same form is available across these functions, which is what allows one house to read as one gesture.

Solid brass door hardware is only convincing when it fits, since a lever that needs a different backset than the door was drilled for turns a simple swap into carpentry.
